I am currently working on a gallery to capture the flavor of Portland: the specific types of plants we have, local quirks, common building materials, moss, moss, more moss, etc. If any of you want to take this up as a challenge, I'd love to see your posts! Consider this sort of an open ended community challenge.
The best known Portland quirks are fairy houses and also little horses tied to the old rings in the sidewalk for actual horses. The little horse figurines are pretty much a thing of the past now. They get taken too often.
For a drawing project, I am making a Portland neighborhoods repeating pattern. My firs thoughts were fairy houses and little horse figures, but in reality these days it's all skeleton and memes rather than quaint little storybook details.
This exists:

but we have a LOT more of this:

and

We have lots of distinct trees and vegetation:

and slap-tagging:

So this is all very much a WIP, but those are some of the elements I need to nail the city's flavor. Street art, rain, weird trees, etc.
What would a gallery of your area's local flavor be like?
